 I have not changed anything in the standard settings. The configuration
 is:
   [X] Automatic power management
   [ ] Extreme power management

 Well, lets try to do better steps:

 For comparison:
  1. Move the mouse/type something (make sure laptop is not suspended)
  2. Close the lid slowly
  3. Watch the display turn off, and the laptop suspend at some point. When
 it is almost closed.

 After that:
  4. Open the laptop again :-)
  5. Wait until it automatically suspends. This can be seen as the power
 LED turns off, and blinks periodically. The screen is still turned on in
 this state.
  6. Close the lid. Look trough the screen (or the light on the keyboard
 really).
  7. The backlight will not turn off even if the laptop is closed.

 It will wake up right away when you open the laptop again.

 I have tested this on a mass production XO, joyride 2331 with a Q2E14
 firmware.
