 When the 'shutdown' freezes with the "don't do this" screen showing (as I
 described in #8110), I've found the XO to be completely unresponsive -
 only the power-off button works.

 But I've been able to bypass some of the freezes where the cerebro
 question is showing - rather than answering the question, I press ctl-
 alt-F3, causing the "don't do this" screen to be shown -- and that screen
 proceeds to time out (after the normal interval), and the shutdown
 completes.
