 Same here, on joyride-2301 on MP G1G1 XO.  I ran it in ctrl-alt-F1
 console, and also in Terminal activity as root.  I hear the noise, but get
 no crash.

 I ran Measure-18 at the same time, and can see the squiggle dance.  Gives
 me ideas about using Pippy to generate tones for Measure.  Synergy!
