should automatically associate with previously used networks, or with the
school server for kids in schools. Even if this isn't immediate, it
should happen soon enough to make it possible to check for activities. In
the worst case, they'll see a message indicating they aren't connected
yet, and can hit "Try again" button in the Software Update module.
It does not automatically associate with school servers, because it does
not know which APs have school servers behind them. It takes a couple of
minutes at least to connect with previously connected APs, because it
tries the mesh first.
Also a common usage for this will be the G1G1 situation where it runs on
first boot and has never been connected anywhere before, so it will not
automatically connect to anything.
I still feel this deserves some further consideration...
