Comment(by thomaswamm):

 Wow! I'm running on battery for maybe 2 hours, and My Battery status says
 it is still 97% charged. At this rate, the battery could last for days,
 even though I am using the XO intensively (spamming Trac). So Advanced
 Power Management (APM), which I have checkmarked ON, must be really
 working great!

 Or else THE BUG came back?

 I verified that APM is enabled by keeping my hands off the XO for a short
 while: after about one minute of inactivity, the screen dims (but does
 NOT DARKEN totally), and the Power LED flashes about once per 5 seconds.
 WiFi seems less busy than usual, I don't know what it is doing, maybe Make
 Work?

 Next step is to test rsmith's idea that lid closure or Power Button press
 might unstick My Battery status, which is still "Charged" at 97%. But
 first I must upload this ticket before I lose my WiFi connection. Also I
 want to first run olpc-pwr-log in Terminal to see the real battery status:
 it says 37%. I might be able to upload a screenshot for proof.
