 For future bug spelunkers: this problem first appeared in Peru's
 "guia.xol" bundle, which consists of a PDF file which is directly linked
 from the sidebar.  In olpc-library-common v24, there is an onclick handler
 in the 'submenu-item-*' div (see /usr/share/library-common/_sidebar.tmpl)
 which triggers this bug when the PDF is referenced directly by the
 contained 'a href' element.

 Martin Langhoff worked around this in Guia-OLPC-7.xol (included in
 http://download.laptop.org/xo-1/custom/peru/peru-703-6/per703-6.zip) by
 linking to an index.html page instead, which itself contained an HTTP meta
 refresh tag to replace itself with the pdf content.  Since replacing
 itself with a PDF will trigger the download manager, the index.html file
 itself includes the main library index in a frame so that you don't end up
 with a blank page after the PDF has been 'downloaded'.
