 I patched tamtam, changed to the test kernel and ran my unscientific
 patch. underruns-per-minute reduced from 92 to 76. Then I detatched the
 screen session and close the terminal, and observed 16 underruns per
 minute (vs 8 from my previous measurements). 2.6.22 still seems to win
 hands-down on these tests.

 However I then launched TamTamMini from sugar, started a drumbeat and
 played a continuous tone on an instrument for a minute or so. Didn't hear
 any imperfections. So perhaps we have reached the stages of being "good
 enough"
