New description:

When starting my XO under 2230 with wired ethernet dongle into the usb at
startup, the wired connection and the available wireless access points are
ignored. Instead I get associated with the mesh, and network manager
munges my /etc/resolv.conf and puts nothing in there so despite the
presence of a schoolserver at 1cc, I get no internet DNS.

The graphical network control panel appears to make no provision for
 manually selecting wired ethernet.

This will be unsatisfactory for G1G1 users, as well as schools using an
access point or wired ethernet dongle.
