 So this relates to #1691, which covers the opposite direction.  Obviously,
 since we're emphasizing the visual clipboard as our primary means of
 interoperability, these both have to work seamlessly.  I mentioned that
 #1691 doesn't have too many strong use cases at this point. This one, on
 the other hand, seems more pressing.  Keeping objects in the Journal is a
 very natural thing to want to do, and I really think drag'n'drop support
 is important for this.

 If it's a real time saver, could we live with the duplication of code for
 now and then clean it up for 1.1?
