Comment:

OK, so I'm going to address these one by one for clarification. forgive
the paraphrasing of the safety requirements; I'm really referencing those
found on the first page of the pdf:

''' 1. Minimum age of child that may use the laptop:'''

My understanding is that this laptop is geared toward children of all
ages. Except, perhaps, for the antennae there are no small parts that
could be swallowed, and I don't see any reason an infant couldn't bang on
the keyboard for fun. If we do indeed have a minimum age, what is it?
Can we skip this by claiming it's safe for all ages? If we need it, I
think an image of a baby (with pacifier, perhaps?) would work. I don't
think we need to include the laptop in the image, as it's implicit.

''' 2. (and 3.) Children should be careful with power adaptors'''

This makes sense. As I read it, we only need icons for one of either
"Children should be careful with " or "adults should handle" the power
adaptors. In light of the goals, it seems we're aiming for the former.
For an icon, I would recommend cropping in more tightly to emphasize the
hand, the adaptor, and the outlet, with "electrical energy" shooting out
 near the hand.

''' 4. The laptop should not be placed on the lap'''

That seems silly to me, since this is the intention for a laptop (and not
the "portable computers" that do in fact not belong on laps these days).
In any case, we've made a product that is specifically designed to be kid
friendly and ultra-low power, and I would assume low heat. Also, it has a
specific hand-held mode. Does it really make sense to warn against human
contact with the running laptop when one of its modes of operation
 requires exactly that?

''' 5. The laptop and batteries shouldn't get wet'''

Again, with our aim of robustness, I think that rainfall is designed to be
within the laptops limits. On the other hand, I don't think the dunk test
is really achievable yet, so the warning makes sense. I think that using
a "do not submerge" icon would be clearer. A wavy water line with a
laptop half in/half out could do the trick.

''' 6. The laptop and accessories shouldn't be dropped or abused'''

I think the dropping icon is clearest for this, and seems to be enough. I
don't think we need a separate icon to illustrate stepping upon it.

 ''' 7. Don't trip over wires'''

Good idea. We've all done it. It's too bad we can't be clever like apple
on the cheap, but oh well. Hopefully gang chargers will alleviate the
problem somewhat too, but we still need a warning. Here again, I would
lean toward a close-up that clearly illustrates the foot and the cable.

''' 8. Inspect for damage periodically'''

This one seems a little odd to me, but OK.
