 I'm not surprised at all - Linux tends to fragment memory quickly, and the
 DMA buffers are a set of unfortunately large contiguous allocations.  I
 had assumed that this would be a problem from the beginning; that's why
 the pre-allocation option is there.

 The anti-fragmentation work in 2.6.23 should help a bit, but the
 fundamental problem remains.
