 Philipmac, the bad blocks message is normal. After reading through all
 these messages it is very difficult to understand what you are seeing
 today.

 Please describe your boot up sequence; what order you click on items; what
 you see; and how do you get past the problem in the journal? Can you ever
 see your journal items? If your journal screen is all white, do you see a
 scroll bar on the right? If so, have you tried to use that?

 If you are still getting all white; could you attach a copy of your
 datastore log and a copy of the 'complete' file, which you can find on the
 USB stick that you used to upgrade. Perhaps there is a file in your
 datastore that is causing the problem. If you are still having problems,
 do your next upgrade without backing up the data (hold down the X and
 Square keys while booting with the USB upgrade stick). That will wipe
 everything clean and upgrade. If it still comes back then I think you must
 have a problem specific to your laptop. If that fixes it, then there was
 probably something in your datastore (which is why it would be good to
 have the files).
