 Re-tested on Salut, with latest PS changes.

 1. (share) works

 2. (join) after a2 joins, they no longer think a1 has a current activity

 3. (non-init leaves) a1 doesn't think they left (#3294, can't fix for
 Trial 3)

 4. (non-init rejoins) a2 still doesn't think a1 has a current activity

 5. (init leaves) a2 doesn't see them leave (#3294 again)

 6. (init rejoins) a1 no longer thinks a2 has a current activity

 I think my changes are an improvement (they make Gabble behave correctly,
 and Salut can't behave correctly in any case due to #3294) so I suggest we
 check these changes in, and file a separate bug for the Salut "current
 activity stealing" (which hasn't got any worse).
