 1 and 2 are pretty much covered by what you've mentioned.
 Regarding having a portal to the Journal on the top frame, I would suggest
 you leave space in there to put undo/redo and copy/paste (see #1924 for
 why I think this would be a good idea).
 Unless you've already worked out a better solution in your mind :)
