Comment(by MitchellNCharity):
622 q2d02 B4.
Several unexpected shutdowns, and an mechanical hypothesis.
This evening I took my B4 out for a walk, and within an hour saw several
shutdowns with a fresh install and reset EC. Two pairs, a singleton,
another singleton which suggested the problem might be mechanical, and a
successful intentional replication.
The pairs both started with an unexpected power-off. Then I pressed the
power button, and got as far as X or sugar, before it powering off again.
Pressed the power button again, and got normal function.
I tend to carry the laptop one-handed, two fingers though hole and slot,
cover fully open, right-side pointed almost straight down. One time when
I fipped it back up to horizontal to look at it, I actually saw an
unexpected power-off occur. That was too unlikely to be conincidence.
Back indoors, I let the laptop sit running for an hour. No problems.
Then picked it up, and repeatedly flopped it back and forth between
dangling and level. Within 10 cycles it powered off.
The laptop base was immersed in a pool once. And as a result, the base
has been partially disassembled and reassembled. So possible rust, and
not-as-manufactured cable connections.
Does the B4 have any cabling which if loose, could be shorting or
otherwise causing momentary power losses?
