 The conventional solution for this is "triggering", in which you start the
 display when the captured waveform crosses a user-settable threshold.

 Triggering circuits/algorithms often have options such as lowpass or
 highpass filtering prior to the threshold-crossing detection, to make the
 trigger insensitive to either high frequencies or DC.
