 It's not a design change... I don't have a good explanation of how the
 etoys entry ended up there but it was never supposed to be (maybe we put
 it in as a temp workaround and forgot it there, not sure).

 Can you explain how the etoys entries are saved to the journal? i.e. how
 you use the activity, activity_id and mime_type metadata properties? I
 probably see your problem but I'd like to understand more of the concrete
 implementation before trying to figure this out at the design level.
