Comment(by dcbw):

 Is NetworkManager turned on for both of you?  Sugar is not guaranteed to
 work on the XOs themselves without NetworkManager running, and it may be
 the case that without NM running, sugar tracebacks and exits on startup
 causing the endless start loop.
