 We just discussed a nice scalable presence algorithm for with Polychronis.
 To implement this nicely we need a way to set the number of mesh hops a
 packet gets forwarded though. Preferably at sendmsg time (which would also
 allow for some nice optimations in our reliable multicast protocol)
