Comment(by HoboPrimate):

 This happened again, and I haven't rebooted yet so to be able to tar
 .sugar and attach it here. The exact steps I did where:
  1. On a normal laptop, as root with commands: mounted usb key, copied
 audio file, unmounted
  2. Insterted USB key on horizontal slot on the right side of the XO
  2. Copied a file to the Journal by dnd it
  3. Chose to unmount the USB key with its icon, but it didn't react after
 many tries.
  4. Went to a terminal, and manually unmounted
  5. Back to the Journal, the screen was blank. Inserted USB key again, and
 it didn't show its icon, but mount said it was mounted.
