From discussions on the devel mailing list...

We should be working toward making Sugar work nicely under XDM/KDM/GDM
style session managers so that it is easy for distributions to include a
Sugar environment for children. This is particularly of interest on e.g.
the EEEpc and on Thin Client solutions such as Canonical sells.

Bernardo Innocenti mentions in the thread:

"""I hear on #olpc that Dennis Gilmore is going to make Sugar a
desktop option for Fedora along with KDE and Gnome.

Joel Stanley said that Sugar is already available for Ubuntu too,
but I didn't have a chance to try it out yet."""

In other words, work is ongoing. This ticket is simply to make sure that
we don't lose track of the goal; making getting Sugar, access and Content
as easy as possible. Once we have Sugar available on most distributions
and ready to be used as a desktop option there, the actual work of adding
it to the distributions' desktop option set should be comparatively
 trivial.
