 Just wanted to note that the way I overcame this problem is by using eth0
 instead of msh0. The problem then is that I have to put the interface in
 promiscuous mode (ifconfig eth0 promisc) to communicate with nodes in
 different ad-hoc cells.

 The advantage is that _any_ wifi-enabled device can now be part of the
 presence map (eg. wifi mobile phones appearing as nodes in the
 neighborhood).

 The disadvantage is promiscuity: it may require more power to have the
 interface in promiscuous mode. However, I should provide more accurate
 numbers on exactly how much power is required and do a cost-benefit
 analysis.
