 As currently implemented, this is not possible - the new PS instance would
 work perfectly, but all code that accesses the PS (sugar.presence, plus
 any reimplementations of it - in practice, that probably just means etoys
 and the PS debug code in Analyze) will need to cope with the restart by
 discarding all cached state and assuming that all buddies and activities
 have vanished.

 This is a significant change and is not feasible for Update.1.
