Comment:
I think it's going to be impossible to avoid preferences altogether. We
know we need them globally; We will also need them at the activity level.
There's a subtle point to be made here, though: We want activity prefs,
which are not the same thing as activity-instance prefs. That is, this
blacklist should be global to all instances of the activity, not only the
one that's open. Pentagram and I have been thinking about this, and have
a few ideas about how to separate the preferences from the instance.
To sum up, though, our hope is that such a preference window is, at the
very worst, accessed from a single palette button in the activity tab.
Perhaps it will live elsewhere. In either case, it doesn't really consume
any additional real-estate or require additional toolbars. Since we're
working upon a standard for activity prefs in general, the technical
details of the gnash plugin could be addressed orthogonally.
I'm reassigning this to the browser for this reason. It seems lower
priority though, so we can still hold off on technical details until the
UI for prefs is further along.
