Comment:

 This strikes me as very wrong.

 A much better approach is to define multiple keysyms on each key, and have
 the applications  use keysyms.

 This level of abstraction will allow remapping if desired, and the use of
 application be portable to differing hardware.

 X Key codes should *never* be used in applications.
