 Many websites offer media content (video, audio) that currently cannot be
 viewed with the web browser. A plugin (Mplayer for example) able to play
 several media formats, would be quite helpful.

 I am also aware about the licensing and copyright limitations that many of
 the media format have, so the problem may be more legal than technical.
 However some sort of implementation would be necessary, since many
 lectures, notes, educational movies, are currently offered online in
 quicktime, wmv, real, mp3, etc. Without this capabilities, the web browser
 is crippled and only static pages can be viewed.

 In addition the very same plugin could be used for offline playing of
 audio/video in the laptop itself. At the moment there is indeed no media
 player available in the laptop.

 Finally this plugin could be further implemented, to give kids limited
 editing capabilities, for example assemble a short movie using the webcam
 mounted in the laptop itself.
