 I thought it was already open source. At least that's what I saw in some
 press notes, like http://www.sun.com/software/opensource/java/. Anyway,
 the JRE for java is just 16 MB and that is what you need to run Java
 applications. JDK is much bigger but you just need it for development of
 applications.

 Pepper is a "clone" of sugar and therefore i think it is suitable for
 young children too. Anyway, I just think you should try it out, even if it
 is just to "know your enemies" ... :)
