I didn't understand. I installed the pepper software in a XO laptop B1 not
a pepper machine. So it uses OLPC build 303 with pepper UI (not sugar).
Just give it a try and see it by yourself.

What is the problem with Java? Its performance '''seems''' to be ok. Java
can run pretty fast if using the dynamic compiler (JIT). Java now is also
a free-software platform. And I think there are more Java programmers out
there than python ones, so finding people to work with it will not be a
problem.
