Comment:

 I suspect this might also be the usual pixel vs. point problem.

 It therefore be google maps braindamage; that might best be fixed by a
 friendly call to google (one of OLPC's sponsors) rather than warping our
 browser.

 It needs someone to go in and understand what is happening.
