 Yes, we probably do want to do this.  But it is not going to be easy.  In
 principle, it is simple, but in practice it will require a great deal of
 care to make the transition happen without screwing up.  The problem is
 that we have existing ROMs in the field whose reflash code assumes that
 the mfg data is in the first sector, and goes to a fair amount of effort
 to preserve that.  To make the transition, we will have to reflash those
 systems with external code that moves the mfg data to the new place.
 Again not difficult in principle, but very easy to screw up.  Getting it
 right will take a lot of patience and attention.
