 log in as root

 su to olpc

 run "xhost +"

 alt-ctrl-F7

 fix screen brightness

 sit in front of some other computer

 assuming the laptop is at IP address 10.9.8.7, run "DISPLAY=10.9.8.7:0.0
 xwd -out somefile.xwd" or similar
