 Further investigation:

 1. set the MTU size on your mesh interface to 1000 instead of 1500:

 ifconfig msh0 mtu 1000
 }}}

 2. now use scp to transfer a large file (ex: 50MB) from that node to
 another, over multiple hops

 In our experiment, this worked (no scp failure, md5sums matched).
