I am opening this trac ticket to document the out-of-box problems I
experienced with the B3 unit that I received today, and to record what I
learn as I debug the unit.

 a) The unit arrived in apparently good condition. It was well packed, and
appeared to be undamaged. The FW was Q2C12. I inserted the battery,
turned it on, and it booted up to Sugar. I logged in, tried the ebook
reader activity briefly, then powered off with the power button.

 b) I then powered back on, held the X game button, and tried to get
control with the ESC key. There was no response to my typing on the ESC
key. I tried several times, with different levels of power-off (e.g.
removing the battery), to no avail.

 c) I inserted a USB key whose /boot/olpc.fth file contained "quit", and
powered on with the game button. The system duly loaded olpc.fth,
executed quit, and issued an ok prompt. But still no keyboard.

 d) I inserted a USB keyboard, powered on, hit the game key, and got
 control using the USB keyboard.

 e) I reflashed the firmware with my experimental q2c14h.rom, which is
ostensibly more lenient about detecting the keyboard in the presence of
already-queued-up events. I was unable to get the keyboard to work.

 f) I reflashed again with Richard's q2cd2c.rom. Immediately after the
reflash finished, the power went off as usual, but then it did not respond
to the power key to turn it back on. I removed the battery and AC,
reinserted them, and eventually got it to power on.

 g) After a couple of tries, it responded to the keyboard. At first, the
keys were flaky - the characters received did not correspond very well to
what I typed. After a few characters, however, it got better and the
 keyboard started to work properly.

 h) I reflashed back to q2c14h.rom. Now I cannot get it to power up at all
 - it does not respond to the power button. I have tried removing all
power, etc, to no avail. The unit is bricked.

I shall dismantle it and perform debricking and debugging procedures, etc.
