Comment (by gnu):
There was a "flag day" incompatible change made to the packet format for
the mesh, between 406 and the current builds. The sharing features are
working / limping in the latest builds, not in 406. But the latest builds
aren't up to "stable" quality yet. It's a bit of a quandry. You could
run a subset of your machines on "mesh 406" and the rest on "new mesh",
using two gateways to the Internet.
I'm using the Linksys USB200M rev 2.1 Ethernet interface, which is cheap
(US$25-30) and works with both build 406 and the latest builds. It uses
the "asix" driver. Might be worth buying three or four of these, if you
have them readily available. See shopper.cnet.com and search for
"USB200M" to find web stores that stock it. Or see:
http://wiki.laptop.org/go/USB_ethernet_adaptors
Please update that wiki page with your experience (e.g. say that your
particular Ethernet adapter worked with 406 but doesn't work with 515.)
