Comment:

 This seems to be an EC problem. By stopping the EC and reading the ADC
 manually from OpenFirmware, we have confirmed that the sensor reads values
 in the range 0x29-0x86, in temperatures ranging from the 50°C oven to the
 freezer.

 The range might not be 100% ideal but it's certainly good enough; the
 hardware is fine. Reassigning to EC.
