 Let's correct some misimpressions: the resolution is much more than
 640x480; at lowest, 800x600, but depending it is a complex function
 depending on lighting and content, all the way up to 1200x900.  There is
 luminance information at all pixels, at chrominance at a lower resolution;
 but as the ambient light goes up the resolution goes up.
