No, it is a *piece* of the security work. The security work won't matter
if we don't have a laptop with working suspend/resume and power
management. If I have to choose one, which I probably do, I know what I
have to pick.
The issue you seem unaware of is that the expertise is not fungible, and
that there is an unlimited amount of talent available. This is never true
in general, and X Window System expertise is currently in severe under
supply; the learning curve is substantial, particularly when you cross
window systems with security, something close to the null set ensues. The
few I know of (and I know just about everyone in the X community, which
says just how small it is right now) who might have both skills (one being
Eamon Walsh, and maybe one or two others working for beltway bandits) can
be numbered on less than the fingers of one hand. More than likely, we'll
end up only able to find someone with half the expertise required, and a
3-6 month learning curve at a minimum.
I will continue to keep my eyes out for people with the right expertise
(and I get a chance to do so again February 7), but you must understand
that due to the circumstances around desktop/laptop Linux and X, despite
having managed to double or triple the number of people able/capable of
working on X over the last couple years, the available expertise is much
less than the demand.
