 Ivan, that is a good point, and it's not one I disagree with at all.  I
 think we can reconsider this behavior, since a background change would
 also be much less processor intensive.  The rotating ring looks slick, but
 ultimately it might not add much to the experience while also using CPU.
 The only real reason it was suggested in the first place was to emphasize
 that the current activity is beneath the XO, which would then be reflected
 in the friend and mesh views.  Of course, the mesh no longer behaves this
 way, and who knows, maybe the friends view won't either.  We should try
 both paths and see what works best.
