 Okay, just got my dev key.  I loaded batman.fth onto my usb stick, booted
 up into the open firmware prompt, fload'ed batman.fth, ran bat-check-and-
 recover, and was greeted with "No response from battery".

 I repeated this several times with identical results.  Each time I was on
 battery power only (about 40% charged), and after each time the machine
 totally froze (I had to pull the battery to shut off the XO).

 The wiki indicates that I might have a bad battery.  Any other
 possibilities?
