Several people that I have shown my G1G1 XO to have been confused by this
behavior (it's disorienting; you loose track of where you are in the list,
and where the things you are looking for are found).
An alternate functionality would be to cause the right button to progress
one icon at a time, giving the user the sense of progressive movement, and
allowing the user to maintain a better sense of "place" within the list
(each step would reinforce the user's orientation).
The benefit of keeping it the way it is now is that it requires fewer
clicks, however (which is important if you have a very long list of
activities). This should be discussed and/or tested in a systematic way
with users.
Both #5754 and #3959 deal with similar, but distinct issues.
This same behavior can be found on the clipboard where it may be more
negative in its effect.
