 I think you may be right about the indexing issue.
 When I plug the usb drive in, I can see the activity light on it flashing
 pretty consistently.  If I attempt any file transfers during this time,
 the hanging problem occurs.  If I wait for it to finish (about a minute or
 two), then I can copy files without a problem.

 BTW, I'm on build 650(ship.2).
