off and touching again restores horizontal movement, but nothing fixes the

This seems like a completely new failure mode, not the one I was trying to
cure. Could you confirm or deny that whay you describe is different from
this video?

In this log, I see many instances of the "x=0, y=0" case I was trying to
cure. I also see several events with the same x coordinate, but it's hard
to tell what happened without a description of what you were doing.
Could you make a video?
