 I don't have a regular Spanish keyboard to test with, but after a few
 trial-and-errors, I can now type tilde with "alt gr 4" on the XO machine
 in the console.

 In the console, the key mapping when alt gr is pressed is similar to
 what's listed at
 [http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/keyboards/kbdsp.htm]

 The users just have to remember that there are different keyboard mappings
 for the gui and for the console.
