 Nothing has changed as far as xv is concerned, but this does sound like a
 timing problem.  There is only one adapter and one port in our Xv driver,
 so if you try to open another one without closing the previous one, then
 there will be contention - if the timing of the tab switch isn't right,
 then this is not a surprising message.  How can we ensure that the Xv
 instance has been destroyed before trying to start another one?
