 Can you confirm that the bug happens when you have no text in the text box
 and hit <shift>, it looks like the failure is SDL failing to render the
 0-width text after the null is passed in.  This *looks* like normal pygame
 behaviour though, so pgu failing suggests we've got some subtle difference
 between our key-down and theirs.
