 A quick lie-detector test can be done with nmap.
 Put a regular (not wireless) packet sniffer on the xo.
 From a nearby host, so that packets don't get dropped
 by a NAT box or similar, do something like this:

 nmap -P0 -sT --badsum -p6000 some-xo-machine.laptop.org

 If you see the packets, you've detected a lie.
