 Sure.  The pressed state represents the visual appearance of the button
 while it is actively being pressed (ie. the mouse button is currently
 depressed).  On the other hand, toggle buttons and radio buttons (any
 others?) have a selected state which is persistent and remains when the
 mouse is released to indicate that it has been toggled/activated.

 Right now we use the same visual for both, which is reasonable, except
 that you don't get visual feedback when pressing on an already selected
 item (or when releasing the mouse after selecting one).  If we could use
 two slightly different grays, we could have some slightly better feedback.
