 To prevent activities that shouldn't rotate from rotating (e.g.,
 "record"), maybe there should be a flag in the Activity super class that
 can be modified by subclasses to prevent the rotation from taking place?

 In a similar vein (and maybe different ticket at your discretion), some
 activities should not launch in rotated modes...  or should rotate
 themselves back before they launch.  This behavior could be dictated by
 the same flag perhaps?
