 I'll certainly do that. We still need to address the visual implications
 that the current behavior has within our design, regardless of whether or
 not any changes can be made upstream in the future.

 Benzea, could we render the "empty space" in black like the rest of the
 menu, but separate it from the options in the list by a gray line (just
 like the border of the menu itself)?  Right now the gray field is the same
 color as the border, causing it to blend in completely with gray
 backgrounds of the same color within the activity.  This disconnects
 portions of the popup and makes the control ambiguous.
