#2708: Upgrade with backup failed with General Protection Exception

I loaded my B2 unit with q2b87 and nand image 385 (which matches some of
 the returned units we've seen).

I created 2 abiword docs, a paint image and a tamtam sound file and saved
 them.

Then I used the autoreinstallation upgrade procedure with the setting to
 do the backup first.

When I booted the machine with this USB stick (which has worked well in
upgrading many other 5xx versions to 542):

 ...
Type any key to interrupt automatic startup
 Boot device: /usb/disk:\boot\olpc.fth Arguments:
 <buffer at 800000>:320: clos-nand-ihs ?
 General Protection Exception

I reset the .fth file to 'false' so it would NOT try to do the backup
first; and the upgrade and activation worked just fine.

[NOTE: My B2 had been running recent builds before downgrading it to
Q2B87, and Mitch took a look for mfg data before I did this downgrade.
There was no mfg data, so he thought this would be fine to proceed with
 this test.]
